The topic of your presentation has to be related to the topic of your
master thesis. Please discuss it with your thesis advisor.
It is your responsibility to inform me about your advisor and the topic of
your
presentation by 16-Nov-2022 at latest. (I need the topic plus the name
and email address of your advisor!)
Details of when and how the presentations are to be given depend on the
institution where you prepare your master thesis, i.e., on the
affiliation of your thesis advisor.
AISP students with a thesis advisor at FHS:
Please arrange details of your presentations with your advisor.
However, please pay attention to the rules and regulations stated below
that apply to all students.
In particular, please note that your advisor has
to inform me about the point score earned on your presentation --
0 to 50 points -- by
20-March-2023 at latest!
Please make sure to brief your advisor accordingly. If this deadline is
not met then you risk not to receive a grade on this seminar!
AISP students with a thesis advisor at PLUS:
All presentations given within the framework of "Master Seminar I" will take
place on 31-Jan-2023 during the time 07:00-14:00.
Attendance is mandatory on this day for all PLUS-affiliated students! And this
requirement is not negotiable.
The time slots for the presentations are as follows: 07:00-07:45,
07:45-08:30, 08:30-09:15, 09:15-10:00, 10:00-10:45, 10:45-11:30,
11:30-12:15, 12:15-13:00, 13:00-13:45.
Please coordinate your time slot with your advisor and with me. (Yes, your
advisor is expected to attend your presentation!)
Ideally, also coordinate with your peers in order to avoid that we get
multi-hour gaps between the individual presentations.
If possible, the presentations will be given in the lecture hall T01.
If this should not be possible or reasonable (due to the COVID-19 pandemic)
then the presentations will be given via video conference
(VC, https://edumeet.cs.sbg.ac.at/held_sbg_lectures).
All presentations should be visually supported by electronic media and
presented in an appealing way; a mostly electronic presentation (via projector)
is mandatory.
If you want to use your own laptop for a presentation then it is advisable to
run a function test in connection with our projector prior to the day of your
presentation. Attention: When using private hardware, you are responsible for
the faultless functioning and interaction with our components!
All presentations have be designed such that they are understandable for
fellow AISP students.
Each presentation shall last for 30 minutes, to be followed by up to 15
minutes for questions and answers.
Please make sure to pay attention to the speaking time alloted!
Please try to give your presentation according to the guidelines for oral
presentations discussed in the seminar.
All presentations are to be given in English.
The electronic slides used for the presentation are to be delivered to me
by email
(after the presentation). Note: Due to many problems with other formats in the
last few semesters I will accept exclusively PDF files in this
semester. Presentation documents submitted in some other data format will be
regarded by me as not submitted!
Please try to submit your presentation slides by mid February. In any case,
you have to submit your slides by the end of February 2020!
It is sufficient if the appropriate .pdf file is submitted. It is advisable to
include any points of criticism put forward after your presentation in a
revision of the presentation slides prior to their submission, and therefore,
in particular, to wait with the submission until after the presentation.
Once your slides have been submitted (and you have received a confirmation
from me), your slides will be deemed to have been submitted. New submissions
as "after-iterations" are useless and will generally not be accepted by me, no
matter what "good" reasons you may put forward for a renewed submission of a
modified set of slides.
Late policy: Late hand-ins of your presentation slides will be accepted but
the point score on your presentation will go down by 10 points per day that
you are late, without further ifs, ands, or buts. (E.g., handing in
your
slides on 02-Mar-2020 will result in a score that is 20 points below the score
that you would have earned if you had handed in your slides by the due
date.)
