Scientific Computing

Description

We are a research group that focuses on important topics in the field of scientific computing. Our main interest are mathematical foundations of numerical problems as well as parallel algorithms. Current research includes:

• Monte Carlo and Quasi-Monte Carlo methods for high dimensional Numerical Integration
• Numerical Integration and Approximation of functions in a Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Space
• Mathematical Foundations of Signal and Image Processing (Fourier Analysis and Wavelet Theory)
• High dimensional integration, multiresolution analysis
• Neuronal nets, evolutionary robotics and fuzzy systems, ontogeny of robots

With a background in number theory, function theory, linear algebra and numerical mathematics as well as multimedia compression and natural computation, our goal is to develop novel and efficient algorithms in these fields. We also take part in developing systems for grid computing and building up and extending the local grid community.
