The main goal of this project is to develop an embedded inter-frame video compression system where the compression engine for I-frames and residual frames is a JPEG 2000 Part I chip, the remaining preprocessing is done on a DSP, and both components are mounted and connected on a PC board. In particular we focus on a system which can be produced (and sold) cheaper as compared to current MPEG or H.26X solutions.
